We’ve been together for 10 months. I’m turning 16 in 13 days and shes 15. I don’t work so I don’t have money to buy anything from her, but her parents are really rich and she bought me a 50$ necklace for my birthday. Her mom now demands a gift in return because that’s what a good boyfriend does. My parents don’t want to spend money on her because it’s their money and they have no relation to my girlfriend. I told my girlfriend “I don’t want or need a gift from you. I don’t see what’s the point of getting gifts for eachother.”. She said “It’s what you do to show you care. I regret getting you a birthday present, I wish I could return it. Thanks for making me cry. Now you just ruined it. I don’t want anything from you anymore.”. I think I’m way to young to start buying gifts, but according to her, “Every” boyfriend does it and it’s what I should do if I were a good boyfriend.
